Humber Disability Sports Award nominations now open

The inaugural awards are coming back for their 4th year to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of those involved in local disability sport. This is the first time it will cover the whole Humber area and the award nominations are now open!All you need to do to nominate someone/team is to send an email to events@disabilitysportshumber.com with

1 Unsung Hero Award – Sponsored by St Stephens Shopping Centre 
This award recognises the contribution of somebody who works hard behind the scenes in any type of disability or inclusive sport. For example it could be a parent, friend or relative who makes sure that somebody gets to and from their club/sports session each week. Alternatively it could be somebody who helps with the running of a club, raises funds or generally just pitches in to make sure that disability sport is there for those who want to make the most of it.
2 Lifetime Achievement Award – Sponsored by Yorkshire Staffing Services 

This award recognises somebody who has put in over five years of work into disability sports and has helped to change people’s lives through it. The award is aimed at the special people that have worked tirelessly to create or contribute to inclusive sport in the area. 
3 Athlete of the Year Award – Sponsored by Stadium Management Company 
This award is for a disabled athlete who is a member of a team that has played at national level or international stage. 

4 Club of the Year Award – Sponsored by 360 Accountants This award recognises an inclusive or disability sports club that has shown significant improvement over the past year. 
5 New Player of the Year Award – Sponsored by Cobus Communions 
This award is open to anyone who has taken up disability sport in the past 12 months, either with a team or at an inclusive sports club.

6 Young MALE Player of the Year – Sponsored by NHS HULL CCG
This award is open to anyone aged 18 or under, it recognises somebody who has a disability and takes part in an inclusive sports club or is a member of a sports team.

7 Young FEMALE Player of the Year – Sponsored by Murray Hills Solicitors 
This award is open to anyone aged 18 or under, it recognises somebody who has a disability and takes part in an inclusive sports club or is a member of a sports team.

8 Community Engagement Award – Sponsored by Active Humber
This award recognises a person, club or charity that has engaged with the local community at any level. For example this could be through school visits or generally promoting disability sport in their community.

9 Business of the year – sponsored by Teckno Delelopments 
This award recognises businesses that have been involving themselves in disability sports in many ways such as sponsorship or just giving general help. Do you know a business that deserves to win?

10 Fundraiser of the Year Award – sponsored by Make A Difference Together
This award recognises the efforts of a person or a club who has enthusiastically helped to raise funds for disability sport in the past 12 months.

11 Male player of year – East Yorkshire Shutters 

This award is open to any male player who plays for a disability sports team or has a disability and takes part in an inclusive sports club.

12 Female Player of the Year – William Jackson Food Group
This award is open to any female player who plays for a disability sports team or has a disability and takes part in an inclusive sports club.

13 Services to Disability Sports Awards – Sponsor by PBS Construction
This award recognises a group or a person that helps to promote or fund disability sport without actively taking part or being part of a club.

14 Coach of the Year Award – Sponsored by KCOM
This award recognises a coach who keeps things fun whilst also improving their players or athletes. It is aimed at people who strike the perfect balance between the two, someone who spends time encouraging their players to always do their best.

15 Trustee of the Year Award – Sponsored by Napoleons Hull 
This award recognises somebody who is involved in disability sport as a Trustee and goes above and beyond what is expected of them.

16 Special Moment of the Year – Sponsored by Smile Foundation 
This award recognises a standout special moment from the calendar year that deserves recognition.

17 Educational ( School, college , university ) of the Year Award – Sapphire Signs 
This award recognises a local school, college or university that has promoted and encouraged inclusive sport for everyone.

18 . The Hull student award – sponsor by Physio Function

 To be in with a chance of winning the Hull student award you or your club could either :

• Grow the number of disabled members in your sports team 

• Raise money for us or one of the clubs we support 

• Be inclusive and show how you help more disabled people into sport. 

19 Champions of champions – Hudgell Solicitors 

This award will be chosen by the sponsor, it recognises one of the winners who they believe is the champion of champions, someone who stands out and deserves further recognition.
20, The unrecognised hero of the night – Translator 111

This award recognises one of the nominees who did not win the award that they were nominated for. The sponsors will be choosing the winner, someone who they believe has worked hard in whatever they do and deserves to be recognised for that. It aims to applaud someone who missed out in their category.
